As a community activist and political campaigner, I believe it’s vital to recognise that Black history is not a separate chapter but an integral part of our shared history. Through the Black experience, we gain insight into struggles for justice, equality, and human rights that have shaped societies globally.
From the fight against slavery and colonialism to the ongoing battle for racial equity today, Black communities have continuously led movements for freedom and dignity. Yet, these stories are often marginalised or erased from mainstream narratives.
Understanding history through the Black experience means acknowledging the contributions, resilience, and leadership of Black people, while also confronting the systemic racism that continues to affect our communities. This perspective is essential if we are to build a future rooted in solidarity, justice, and equality for all. Let’s honor Black history, not just in a month, but every day
